Failing A Class. What Would Jesus Do?
Priorities, Priorities, Priorities
Discipline. Ugh! Who loves that word? I honestly don’t think anyone does at first. On the surface it sounds boring and unexciting. “I’m missing out on all the fun!” It seems mundane and repetitive. “You mean I have to do this again? Like, tomorrow?”
But what if you looked deeper? Ah! Yes, discipline combined with passion or purpose is exciting! If that sounds crazy to you, just imagine what it would look like on the other side. Instead of wishing, you’re actually living your dream!
What does that mean now? Choices. Priorities.
When you choose to practice or study something daily until you become well developed in that area, you can now master it. In other words, it’s great! It also means that you are choosing to say no to something else, so you can say yes to a better and brighter future. You’re working towards a great “A+” in a class, instead of settling for a C or letting it all slide by with an F.
There was someone in the Bible who had a routine and purpose combined—Jesus. Even as a child, the soles of his shoes traveled the path to the temple instead of following other paths. He was already God’s Son, yet His desire to grow in His Father’s ways created priorities, and He spent time listening. He listened as leaders shared passionately about God’s laws and commands. His little heart could have burst with joy, for He was on a good path!
He prepared His heart for what He was born for—to bring salvation, forgiveness of sins, and a new relationship with God to people. Jesus had a desire to do something great with His life, and you can too!
